Community Health Worker Liaison

Laura Leal is a dedicated and experienced Community Health Worker (CHW) who is deeply committed to improving the health and well-being of her community. With a background in adult education and extensive experience as both a contact tracer and training facilitator, Laura brings a unique blend of skills and passion to her role. As a contact tracer, with the Communities Fighting COVID! Project Laura has played a vital role in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 by identifying and monitoring individuals who may have been exposed. Her strong communication skills and empathetic approach have helped reassure and guide individuals through the complexities of testing, isolation, and quarantine protocols, and track down people who might have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19. finding out who they've been around and making sure those people know to get tested or take precautions to keep others safe. When the COVID-19 vaccines were developed Laura helped spread the word about COVID-19 vaccines, encouraging people to get vaccinated to protect themselves and others from the virus by spreading the message that getting vaccinated is important to stay healthy and keep our communities safe. In her capacity as a training facilitator, in the Advancing and Building Community Capacity Project, Laura excels in designing and delivering engaging educational programs tailored to the needs of adult learners. Drawing from her passion for adult education, she incorporates interactive teaching methods and real-life scenarios to ensure that participants not only understand key concepts but also feel empowered to apply them in their work as frontline health workers.

Laura's passion for adult education extends beyond the classroom, as she actively seeks opportunities to mentor and support her peers in their professional development. She believes in the transformative power of education to drive positive change and is dedicated to equipping others with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their roles.

Driven by her commitment to lifelong learning and community service, Laura continues to make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of her community.
